LifeWay Community Church was planted in July of 1997 by as an intentional church plant of New Covenant Church in Clyde, NC. They sent out Brian and Shawn Cagle to oversee the work and invested 60+ members and tens of thousands of dollars into turning a dream into a reality. In 2003 the Cagles returned to New Covenant and passed the baton to Michael & Sonya Abbott who now serve as LifeWay’s Lead Ministers. In 2007 LifeWay sent out Scott & Dianna Woodard and a team to start NewLife Community Church in Clayton, GA. Sensing that God wanted a closer partnership NewLife became LifeWay’s Rabun Campus with the Woodards serving as Campus Pastors while Josh & Galadriel LaVere became the Campus Pastors in Sylva, NC.
Over the years our heart for community has opened doors for us to have local and global impact. God has allowed us to be instrumental in the formation of The Community Table, Jackson Neighbors in Need, God’s Abundance Food Pantry and setting up Little Pantries. We’ve helped with tornadoes and hurricanes at home and taken teams to Mexico, Peru, Nicaragua and Ghana to share the love of Jesus. We’ve sent missionaries to Cameroon, Africa and Papua New Guinea and partnered with others in Africa, Europe, Asia, Israel, the Middle East and Central and South America.
We are excited for what God has done and even expectant for what He has in store. We are amazed that we get to be a part of ‘His’ story!
